About

Network and systems engineer, automation enthusiast, traveller. The short story, education and certifications.

An engineer who designs and runs enterprise IT infrastructure, high-availability (HA) network architectures and cloud / virtualization platforms end to end. His work spans every layer of the stack, from firewall clusters to Kubernetes RBAC design, and from PostgreSQL performance analysis to backup automation.

His way of working fits in three sentences: let's take a look first, then automate it, but test it before it goes live. Since 2026 he has been building internal tools with Claude Code, always keeping a human in the loop.

Off-screen, he backpacks around the world, goes on long-distance cycling tours and camps in the wild, and never shies away from adventures like paragliding, rafting, bungee jumping and scuba diving.

Frequently asked questions

Who is İsmail Altıntaş?

A Senior Network & System Specialist and Electrical & Electronics Engineer based in Istanbul. He works on enterprise IT infrastructure, high-availability (HA) network architectures, virtualization and infrastructure automation.

Which technologies does he work with?

For network and security: FortiGate (HA cluster), OPNsense, IPsec/WireGuard and Cloudflare WAF; on the systems side: Linux, Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware ESXi, Proxmox VE and RKE2 Kubernetes; for databases: PostgreSQL, MariaDB Galera, MSSQL and MinIO S3; for automation: Bash, PowerShell and Python.

What education and certifications does he have?

He holds a B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Eskişehir Osmangazi University, and completed associate degrees in Computer Programming at Atatürk University and Electronics Technology at Kütahya Dumlupınar University. He has 14 certificates and training programs, including the Cisco Networking Academy CCNA courses (ITN, SRWE, ENSA), CyberOps Associate and the İSMEK Cybersecurity programs.

How does he use AI tools in his work?

In 2026 he built 19 internal tools with Claude Code for the infrastructure team's needs. The rule never changes: prompt → review → test → deploy. AI speeds things up, but no generated code or command goes live without being reviewed and tested.

What does he do off-screen?

He travels with a backpack (Morocco, Southeast Asia, the Balkans, the Caucasus, the Gulf and Sri Lanka), goes on long-distance cycling tours and camps in nature; paragliding, rafting, bungee jumping and scuba diving are among the adventures he has tried.

How can I get in touch?
